Bethune Game Thread

You’ll recall before we landed Beck, we had our sights on John Mateer, who took over at WAZU when Cam Ward left to be a Hurricane. Apparently, Oklahoma came up with the winning NIL offer for Mateer, and like Carson Beck, Mateer seems to be worth it. He played a very courageous game against a tough Michigan defense where he threw the ball well, and was especially effective rushing the football. Mateer is a tough kid, and Oklahoma will definitely compete for the SEC crown.

Traveling for family wedding, haven’t watched the game yet. Consensus seems to be Emory improved but still not “the guy” for next year. Nickel didn’t get in for whatever reason.

This weekend (and arguably most of next) is just boring as watching paint peel because of all the sacrificial lambs. Totally get (a) the need to fine tune and get burn for backups plus (b) payday for said lamb. But there “oughta be a law” against such uncompetitive games. In the end they are more or less nothing but an opportunity for injury at the beginning of the season.

A bye week with a scrimmage describes it best. Games like 77-3 are for sixteen year olds to puff their chest out as fans.

It should be called “Cupcake Saturday.”

When Golden was coach, he and the Savannah State coach agreed to end the game early.

I don’t recall it they ended it at the end of the 3rd quarter or sometime during the 4th quarter.

Miami won by 70+ as I recall.

Miami didn’t struggle with Bethune like some other programs did with their cupcakes.

Some cupcakes are downright uncooperative and seem to want to make a game of it.

USF actually won, some nerve they have!!!

Miami will have to shop for another transfer QB next season because Williams ain’t it.

This wasn’t the game that got cut short.

This was the shortened game. It ended after 3 quarters.
