Bayou WR Ibieta to UM

I think UM will take 1 of Gibson/Horton if they want in, not sure they will go any deeper of that with next year’s monster Sofla class.

Is this a good take for UM?

Seems to be a plan B type, but I don’t think there are a ton of options.

Lee, Ibieta, Gibson…all of these guys look average to me. the university of miami should be getting matchup nightmares/difference makers at this position and its amazing how we never seem to do better in this area. Since Andre Johnson, Dorsett is the only 1st round WR we’ve had and that is shocking considering our recruiting base.

i don’t like what diaz is doing with WRs…i did like Smith in the previous class, but i’ll need convincing from all others.

Agree. I just see average talent here.

Not that he’s a bad player, but it seems like we should be aiming for a higher level WR.

Gibson stock has really gone up and there isn’t too many schools that wouldn’t take him…Drawing some AJ Green comparisons for size/speed combo

I agree that Lee and Ibieta are not the 2 man WR class you want…Maybe if you were taking 4. But I think either is a take this year. Rumor has it Lee is on the way out to UCF.

Likens has loved Ibieta since winter, and recently reporters from other sites stated that Ibieta was turning heads left and right at LSU camp. Likens has coached a lot of WRs in his day, so I guess we gotta trust him here. He also put on a clinic in the Battle of Miami 7-7 down in Dade and was one of the best players on the field.

Bond was my favorite…And we lost him to UF who looks like they are about to lose him to Bama. And Likens was on him before any of the big boys were and sites were listing him as a cornerback.

Some quotes from the LSU board on Ibieta:

Kid was amazing today at camp!! Won’t be surprised if he’s offered today!!

Was 5’11 191lbs today

Tiger Details said he was the best player in the afternoon session.

Couldn’t run through the workouts for some reason though. Said he would have impressed, as he has legitimate track speed. Jimmy knows him from the Bootleggers im pretty sure

Watched this kid play basketball at Pelican Park several years ago when my son was playing in the same league, you could see it back then, he was on a whole different level than the other kids. Very gifted athlete with tremendous body control. Would love to see him in P&G

Ibieta is super twitchy and explosive with great hands. Thrilled to see him blowing up.

An old coach of Ibieta’s who knows Ensminger well is helping to put LSU on him. Pete Golding from Bama supposedly really likes him too. This kids recruitment may blow up if he’s able to camp this summer.

That was from an LSU camp couple weeks back…No offer yet…But he was one of the talks of the camp

Any chance Lee committed without a commitable offer? Just seemed like an odd time to commit.

I have to agree as far as not being impressed with the Wr haul the past couple years. I liked Smith and I’m still holding out hope Curtis is a Wr for us but Romello and two kids we have committed this year, not so much! The kid from Plantation we signed last year, George, I’m on the fence.

Speed kills especially at that position and where are the Andre Johnson’s, total freaks? Going to Alabama I guess!

Disagree here…I’m with you on Curtis. I thought our class as a whole was very good. Brinson and B.Smith a lot to be excited about.

The biggest problem at receiver is this is the worst year I can ever remember in florida. It is forcing the florida schools to look outside the state. Now there will be some guys who emerge from this years class but overall it is a weak year for receivers.

agree about this being a very down year…i can’t remember a cycle this bad for the position.

Blazing speed along with good hands has been the formula for success at Alabama. To this end, I think the Dolphins landed THE premium player in the draft in Waddle. If Waddle’s legs hold up, he’ll be IMO another Devin Hester. His elusiveness after the catch is the best among recent Alabama pro WRs.

If Ibieta has track speed and has impressed Likens, he has some good credentials. You cannot teach speed.

A laser 4.51 as a HS junior. By college Junior, 4.35-4.4 should be possible.

Yup this…Especially tri county

I will say this about Quan Lee, he seems to have that dawg in him watching his highlights and seeing him really get after it blocking. That’s always welcome especially in a young wr. However I am afraid he’s maxed out body wise.

Kid is Meh. I see kids like this all over the country. I could be wrong but we’ll see.

I think they see Braxton Berrios in him.

I agree that he’s a special team type.

Stock supposedly rose alot last few months…Uncoverable in all camps and 7 on 7 dominated in sofla tourney

This is a situation where I would take the project over a kid like this and hope to strike gold over the fact that you’re getting at most, a special teams player.
