Ban the bible

““If you want to teach morality and ethics, do you really want to turn to a book that wants you to dash babies against rocks?” he told NPR, pointing to Psalm 137:9.”

I find it hilarious that the guy who is so against colonizers, slavery, white privilege, Nazi’ism and all the injustices of this world, WHO CALLS FOR THESE PEOPLE TO BE KILLED FOR JUSTICE SAKE, doesn’t understand the context of Psalm 137.

It’s one of those little ironies that proves God has a sense of humor.

I’m not quite sure what you are talking about. Sounds like you are putting words in my mouth again

The verse’s context. It’s basically today’s version of social justice.

The Edomites took the Jews as slaves. Killed them. Raped their women. Forced them to convert.

The verse is proclaiming vengeance on the Edomites that did this to them . And while it’s a very gruesome way to say it, what the meaning is, is essentially, “we will get revenge and destroy your nation.”

Nothing much different than you saying “all Nazi’s should be killed”

Except that, I didn’t state the biblical quote and Nazis have never taken me as a slave, killed me, or raped my women while forcing them convert to Nazism.

The king of strawmen is wildin’ out.

But back to the actual topic at hand, after that short and bazaar break, we need to ban Bibles from all schools ( even private ones), in America.

Thanks for basically admitting my premise. Anyway…

Bibles are not in any public schools that I know of. I went to public school for 12 years and never once did I see a Bible or hear a verse quoted.

Have you?

Actually they are, and even if they were not, see supreme court case regarding football coach right now.

As far as your point, I’ve proved nothing neither here nor there, jackass.

There’s a high likelihood that he wins that case in June.

For now.

Doesn’t mean it is right, either.

But my point stands, regardless of the outcome

No, the Babylonians took the Jews as slaves. The Edomites stood with the Babylonians on the battlefield and cheered them on, “Strip her, strip her, to her very foundations!”. It’s about the Babylonian Exile of 587-586 when Nebuchadnezzar II sacked Jerusalem and trashed the temple. They expected the Edomites, descendants of Jacob’s brother Esau, to be more sympathetic.
The last verse is a reference to a time when they were at war, 2 Chron 25:12

11 Amaziah took courage, and led out his people; he went to the Valley of Salt, and struck down ten thousand men of Seir. 12 The people of Judah captured another ten thousand alive, took them to the top of Sela, and threw them down from the top of Sela, so that all of them were dashed to pieces.

The Edomites never enslaved the Jews. The point is somewhat the same, but your context is wrong.

GSC writes with great authority. It’s a pleasure to read his scholarly posts. His historical knowledge of the Bible is profound.

Except, it was wrong. Though, from a pathological liar, like yourself, I can see how you’d appreciate

“His scholarly posts“

Lmfao

These guys wouldn’t back up a claim if they even knew how to. They want to DESTROY education / academia and then have balls to post shit like this. Fucking hilarious.

Dude, they know. Bikki knows he’s lying. They have sunk to the point they wallow in their dishonesty. It’s a badge to them.

Oh I’m sorry- did I wrote Edom instead of Babylon? Forgive me.

Both oppressed, attacked, and wanted to kill Jews. The message stands. There’s a historical reason for the Psalmist to write what they did.

It was all about righteous vengeance and payback for treating God’s people unjustly.
