I am reading that he is off to lsu as linebacker coach…can he take diaz with him? plz
This is one of those moves that makes me go
If LSU wants him, and he’s a local guy coming from Tech, it’s confirmation that he can coach.
What piece to the puzzle is missing for me?
Is it that Manny is forcing him to play a style/scheme he’s not familiar with?
Is Miami a bad fit for some reason?
Young and in over his head? What is it?
PS - I get it. It’s not a Def Co spot, but my question still remains.
Lot of chatter that it’s happening. I wonder if Diaz will even hire someone or just take over himself if it’s true.
his ass is gone…i can’t believe our luck. maybe 2021 is the year things finally turn in our favor?
Gotta be a bad fit for him to voluntarily take a demotion.
Jim Leavitt…Manny Diaz on Line 1
Ok let’s put a wish list together
Really didn’t think it would happen but I guess Manny hit the limit of his patience after UNC.
Most of us thought a change was needed. When Manny took back the play calling duties, the writing was on the wall. Why have a DC who can’t call plays? So, who is next? Very important hire that will make or break Manny’s tenure as Miami’s HC.
I’d be surprised if we didn’t make a run at Travis Williams. AU’s LB coach who wasn’t retained by Harsin. He was on staff with T Rob and Lashlee too I believe. AU’s LBs were impressive under him and he is a very good recruiter too.
Steele or Leavitt would be perfect. not sure if Travis Williams has enough experience to coach up this defense and that is what we need the most. someone who can teach sound Xs and Os properly.
Oh I was referring to Williams strictly as an LB Coach. If we are talking DC, then Shoop > Steele. His run at MSU was very, very impressive.
If this were the case, I wonder why he didn’t fire him? Perhaps it was a gentleman’s agreement that he’d stay on short term as he looked for another position?
Without looking through the comments, Manny was letting him down easy and was probably pushing on the back end to move on. Odd, yes, but what needed to be done, is done. He’s not here, he just wasn’t ready for prime time yet. Good guy, needs more experience.
NOW we need an elite LB coach / recruiter added.
Id be fine with a DC that backs into this d staff. DL and DB are covered well. LB would need to be helped.
Does this mean Huff, Brooks, steed, AC… play over The seniors
SMU hired Leavitt yesterday … so unless he pulls a Manny.
Shouldn’t be that hard to find a capable DC who would want to coach in Miami.
Awwww… dammit… I have been pulling for Leavitt since the season ended. I think he would have been a good fit and would have brought some fire and discipline.
If I were Manny, I would still call the guy…
