Because he wasn’t OC all of them…And he was kinda in tandem with legendary head coaches at Bama and Michigan and (which obviously Cristobal was not and maybe those were the kids who, along with money, valued the HC)…He worked with w of the Bama kids 1 year…And he recruited one of the Bama kids. I don’t understand how Gattis isn’t gone. One view is that he’s a terrible OC and WR coach and is directly responsible for the poor WR production. The competing view is the WR talent wasn’t up to par to execute. So the answer would be to upgrade the talent in the offseason. Outside of some local slot kids, NO HS OUTSIDE RECEIVER gave us the time of day. Likewise in the portal.
In the former view, he should be gone b/c he’s directly responsible. In the latter view, he should be gone because he can’t upgrade the talent he says underperformed. I can’t fathom a reason to hold onto him other than wishful thinking that the moon and stars will align for a fantastic 2023 campaign.
