The Energy Department released this opinion with a “low confidence” rating.
Either way, the other department that believes this is a lab leak is the FBI, and they stated this a long time ago, so there’s no “always right just late” to see here.

It’s the opposite, actually. Like I said, the FBI announced their opinion a long time ago. I don’t think a low-confidence DoEnergy opinion now is much in the way of vindication.
In other words, it’s okay to side with the FBI that you don’t trust, but don’t pretend like it’s an outside conspiracy that some people in the government aren’t considering. My only point is the DoE opinion isn’t the dunk you think it is.

I don’t think their conclusion is very momentous, but I don’t know all the details. This could be more propaganda pressure against China, or an honest opinion, or something else.
