I support Russia against Nazis and the corrupt Ukrainian government. True that Russia too is corrupt, but there is a red line struck in Russia against corruption that harms or impoverishes the masses that does not exist in Ukraine. Ukraine has a literate, highly educated population yet they languish being the poorest of all European countries. Ukraine should not be poor nor should its people be victims of Nazi tyranny.
Many of my insights come from my correspondence with Russian friends living in the United States or abroad, many in India and Brazil. Here’s what my sources say is presently occurring in Ukraine. Previously, I wrote that the Ukrainian Army no longer existed. That was too ambitious of a pronouncement. Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was precipitated by the Ukrainian government sending 60 to 80 thousand soldiers to Ukraine to stamp out the Russian rebellion against the Nazis. Putin’s deployment of an entire army in a week’s time surprised the Ukrainians inasmuch as they reached the Donbas first. The Russian army has this giant force of Ukrainians pinned down, cut off their communications and severely limited their fuel supply. The Russians have complete air supremacy and report to planes downed by Ukrainian missiles. The Ukrainians have no way of re-supplying their army which is now trapped in Donbas slowly being surrounded by the Red Army. The scene has been set for the largest military engagement of the war as the Russians destroy the Donbas Army or force them into submission.
Putin’s popularity in Russia is soaring, estimated at 80%. Reports of problems with the Russian Army are largely propaganda. Russia has world supremacy in two critical areas: development of hyprsonic missles against which there is little or no defense and Russian anti-aircraft defense is superior to any now produced by .any Western nation.
As has been correctly reported, Putin intends on “liberating” the entire north coast of the Black Sea, and imminently there will be a siege laid to Odessa. Odessa is an ancient city but much more Russian than Ukrainian in character. Eighty percent of Odessans are Russian speakers.
The Holocaust at its worst was visited on Ukraine. Nevertheless, a significant number of Jews remain in Ukraine mainly in its larger cities: Kiev, Kharkov, Denipropetrosk, and Odessa. These remaining Jews are in the main secular Jews as the Soviet Union repressed all forms of religion. However, the majority of Jews left Ukraine and Russia and migrated to Israel and other nations, but they carried with them an enmity against Russia that has persisted and has affected feeling toward Russia by Western nation. My own family emanates from Kiev and Lithuania and to most of my family Russia is evil incarnate.
The enmity toward Russia has made Russia the red-headed stepchild of Europe. Seems today Russia is the sun source of all “disinformation.” But what do the Russian people really want for the future of their country? As I have observed actually living in Russia is a deep admiration for Western culture. They dearly want to be part of a united European culture. They resent deeply NATO and feel threatened by anti-Russian political machinations. For my own part, I understand their feeling and believe the best future of the West should include Russia, and our long term goal is to improve relations severing their dependence on support from China which I perceive as our chief adversary in today’s world.
Nobody paid a higher price in WW2 than did the Soviet Union. The greatest land battle in history was fought at Stalingrad. Few Russian families have been untouched by war since the time of Napoleon. There are no mountains that stand in the way of invading Russia. The only great problem in conquering Russia has been its long, arduous winter. Note, that Putin chose spring to advance his invasion. Putin also benefited from having Trump replaced by Biden whose family is in collusion with Ukrainian oligarches. Small wonder Biden would prolong this conflict unnecessarily. Sanctions are going to harm the West far more than Russia. Already the pathways around the sanction are put into effect by clever business interests who wish to safeguard their ownership of Russian industries. Shrewdly, Putin has backed the Ruble with gold, and its value is now increasing.
Russia cannot be defeated by Ukraine, and NATO and the United States are unwilling to fight for Ukraine. There is only one rational end to the conflict and that is negotiation with Putin who holds the better cards. Read or watch the Lira link I supplied, and you’ll better understand my beliefs. I don’t completely agree with Lira, but his explanation of the conflict is the best I’ve found.
