2026 Offense Board

Will update these boards over the next 3-4 weeks

QB-
Seem to have our guy with Coleman…My best guess is we are trying to avoid portal this season and groom Nickel (Or Judd Anderson if he surprises) to be ready for '26, but who knows…Could be one more portal year for the position

https://www.hudl.com/profile/16302901/Dereon-Coleman UM Commit
Supposedly has grown an inch or 2 (or that could just be false) up to the 6’ range. Put on a show in playoff run that culminated with wild loss to AH. Release is quick and arm has been described as electric. Long way home, but UM appears to be confident he will be their guy for this class.

——————————

RB
Took only Pringle last year. I think we will hit this hard with 2, maybe 3. CWH’s development means something in the long run too and whether he stays at this position. 2 studs headline the local class

https://www.hudl.com/profile/19057210/Derrek-Cooper
(ATH) UM battling Georgia and OSU here for Chaminade kid. Started career at Gibbons…Very impressive on the defensive side as a well-rounded, physical safety and although I love him on defense, he’s getting recruited mostly as a RB. Will be a battle, but has been at UM quite a bit the past few months.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/14858099/Javian-Mallory UM Commit
Behind only Cooper locally and UM has been on him a good while. Good feet for a big kid to go with his punishing style.

Others: Amari Latimer, Sandy Creek GA… Jamar Rule, Charlotte NC

—————————————

WR:
I expect a minimum of 3 and this could really be bigger. Last year was the rare down year for WR in Sofla although it was improved by Toney’s reclassification and Miami nabbed him. This year is a big rebound starting at the top.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/17878157/Calvin-Russell
5 Star type is also a D1 hooper. Tall with speed, even if a little raw as a route runner. Has played WR and QB at MNW. A legit 6’4+ and UM is thought to be the leader although definitely not a done deal.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/15232409/Jasen-Lopez
Lot of Restrepo (not just because of the ethnicity) comparisons here for crafty slot type that is also a D1 hooper and is looking to play both sports in college. UM heavily in the mix.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/17848799/Brandon-Bennett
May be a tad higher on board then his teammate above (just imagine Toney was on this team as well last season!). Has another teammate who is committed to UM for '27 (just transferred in from STA). Behind Russell and Lopez I’m not sure of UM’s pecking order among the locals, but I’m pretty sure Bennett is in if he wants at this time.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/17603464/Tristen-Keys (MS) Lsu Commit
Early March commitment to LSU, but visiting for UM spring game, and who knows may be back on the map. Top WR in the nation if I had to call it.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/17954350/Jalen-Lott (TX)
(ATH). UM recruiting the hell out of a handful of LoneStar WRs. The slot guy Robinson listed below is the only one I’m not sure if he is 100% take (Just because he is tiny and I know that Lopez is their #1 slot target), but Lott’s tape is pretty nasty at WR/KR/CB. Could be a stud on either side of the ball but most schools recruiting as a WR.

Others: Tyron Evans, Charlotte NC…Jeffar Jean-Noel, Plantation AH WVU Commit…Jayden Petit, Naples FL …Larry Miles, Orlando Jones…

TE:
Not the biggest need on the team, so can get away with 1. With new expanded roster limits who knows though, 2 wouldn’t shock, and Cristobal and his ace Woodiel do recruit this position well. No idea what the pecking order is just yet, but much like last couple years UM searching far and wide with no in-state options being mentioned yet.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/18048633/Zach-Turner (TX)
Seems to be high mutual interest here for versatility hybrid type in the mold of Lofton, Brevin Turner. From one of the most talent-rich high schools in Texas.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/16079436/Mark-Bowman (CA) USC Commit

https://www.hudl.com/profile/18201271/Israel-Briggs (CA)
Early commit and now decommit from Arizona State. Seems to have always been near the top of UM’s board and now has visit scheduled.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/17663175/Heze-Kent (GA)
Miami seems to be one of the schools telling this jumbo athlete they will give him a shot at TE. But imo it’s just a matter of time before he ends up on the OL. Will list him here for now because kid is adamant he wants to play TE. UM vs. UF supposedly.

Others: Preston Fryzell, Toledo OH…Luke Sorenson, Anaheim CA

OL-
I expect 5, with a possibility for 6 just from HS. 3 Tackles and 3 Interior (maybe 1-2 of those guys can be swing guys like Buchannon from this past class). CMC and Mirabal have shown the ability to recruit the headliners, but also develop lower ranked prospects. The past two years we have had top 10-12 OL in the nation (maybe even top 8 this past year) and the goal is to make it even better…Actually a big year in the state of Florida for OL this year.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/17530655/Keenyi-Pepe USC Commit
IMG kid from the West coast, much like our Francis Mauigao whom he is friends with…But commits to USC over UM in a tough loss. I think we will continue to recruit here, but maybe not as hard with Cantwell on board.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/18075758/Jackson-Cantwell (Mo) UM Commit
UM lands nation’s top OL and perhaps top overall HS prospect over GA and Oregon (OSU, Mich, Mizzou were also heavy in pursuit til the last few weeks). 6’7+ and 325 and still growing at age 16, and a record-setting shot putter as well. Ridiculously country strong, benching 500 lbs already.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/19130903/Breck-Kolojay
IMG by way of Colorado. One of at least 3 IMG kids UM is recruiting on the OL. Maybe more of a RT, then LT prospect or possibly kicks inside. UM in top 3.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/18006015/Micah-Champ-Smith

https://www.hudl.com/profile/18197845/Ryan-Miret
Besides the Aussie Tinilau who has since transferred out, Cristobal and Mirabal have not taken any local linemen. Wrestling background. Seems like UM’s for the taking, as they’ve been recruiting him for a couple years, but it looks like they may have preferred Sparks/Woodrow all along? (And most likely Wise who committed to Clemson)

https://www.hudl.com/profile/18335946/Rhys-Woodrow UM Commit

https://www.hudl.com/profile/12898061/Ben-congdon (OH) UM Commit
UM seems to have beaten a lot of Midwest powers to the punch here . I don’t claim to be an OL expert but this tape is damn good for a mid ranked 3*…Mammoth tright ackle prospect with an athletic frame and wrestling background who moves well. Gaining some momentum in the rankings.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/17888688/Canon-Pickett
Another Tampa Pickett. We missed on his cousin DJ this past year, but his brother is currently a DE at UM and their old Man was a DL at UM in the 90s. It may be UM vs. Clemson, but not sure if he is currently 1st or 2nd tier on our OL board though.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/19947202/Joel-Ervin UM Commit

https://www.hudl.com/profile/17640976/JJ-Sparks UM Commit
Most thought Miret to UM was a done deal, but UM gets surprise commit from Sparks, who most likely projects as a center with the possibility of guard as well. Bigger kid for a center prospect, at 300 lbs already

OTHERS: Da’Ron Parks G/T, Sarasota Mooney…Jared Smith G, Atlanta…G’Nive Carr, IMG… Johnnie Jones, T Tampa Berkley

I suspect that the OL will be the best recruited position on the team. A former Oline guy followed by one of the best teachers/developers in the game…

Ya I’m expecting a 5-6 man HS OL class. And who knows we probably get a portal starter next season as well.

Some new names, new commentary, and early fat trimming.

Saw today that OL Ben Congdon committed.

Updated…WR board is huge right now.

Both boards cleaned up and a little commentary added.

The boards that are a little bit of a mystery, (and I honestly think UM and the whole nation is waiting to see what exactly the new scholarships will be are

DT- I think we need a solid 3 here. Johnson appears to be at top of board but will be a dogfight with Georgia and maybe others in the SEC. Cleveland up there as well, but wouldn’t mind seeing a few more names that Lewis and Taylor are after.

WR- Plenty of names here, but one by one we are seeing the big out of staters lean elsewhere. Calvin Russell is starting to give soap opera vibes. We need to land a true #1, and again I do like that a lot of big timers have us in top 3-4. Lopez is considered to be a strong UM lean, and the only way we take 2 Smurfs is if B.Robinson from Texas (UM vs. ND and deciding soon I believe) comes aboard

LB- Was a real mystery, but some new names appearing every week, so I’m willing to give Hetherman some time.

I think we are on our way to a very strong class at every other position, especially RB/DB/OL

Realistic (long shot ok, extreme long shot not included) Top of Offense Board Targets, jmo

RB: Cooper
WR: Keys/Spafford/Lopez
TE: Bowman/Briggs
OL: Cantwell**/Pepe/Wise/Tofi

I really like what Mario is doing. He KNOWS that he has to be an SEC team in the trenches so he he’s hired some solid guys in Lewis and Taylor. NOW, they just need to develop these guys at the level that Mario and Mirabel are doing on the OL. My theory is that kids don’t really care where they play (mostly) as long as they can be prepped for the next level.

I think we are weak at QB development. I’m interested to see if Nickel (sp?) can develop under Dawson. This, to me, is a HUGE area that we need to really start hitting on instead of the one year portal wonders.

RB, again, here I hope we can develop some guys to be better. I want to see us be at the days of Portis, McGahee, etc…being on the team at the same time.

WR, see RB…these divans will come where they are developed and where the ball is thrown to them.

TE, I like what we are doing.
OL, doing really well.

QB development… Story from The Athletic titled, " Why 15-year-old Miami Northwestern QB Neimann Lawrence could be the next big thing."

Pointed quote from the kid:

“Development is a big part of where I’ll make my decision to go play,” Lawrence said. “For me, I want to know how many transfer quarterbacks a school has taken in the past five years. That’s an important question I like to ask just to see where a program is in that aspect. Obviously, I love to throw the ball. Offenses that push the ball downfield, those are the offenses we’re definitely intrigued by.” [my emphasis]

Article goes on to say, “Lawrence picked up his first scholarship offer, from Miami, when he was 12 and has since added offers from dozens of other Power 4 programs, including Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon and Penn State.”

Thinking Oregon.

15-year-old Miami Northwestern QB Neimann Lawrence could be the next big thing.

First year at MNW and Bridgewater

Miami is supposedly very involved and will be to the end

He also I believe will be a re-classify to next year’s 2027 group. At least a strong rumor.

Article emphasized Bridgewater effect. First time I have heard a high school kid say the quiet part out loud about being leery of schools which habitually take transfer QBs (i.e., not allow me to develop on a “normal” timeline rather than push me back with a transfer).

EXACTLY! It’s what I said above. Kids want to come to a place where they can be developed to the next level. We haven’t done that in a LONG time. Hopefully Beck is the last portal option at least from a starting QB option.

Some updates on both boards including new OL commit from Orlando, Rhys Woodrow a kid that I think is underrated as an interior lineman.
