Former Wisconsin commit…Being pursued by Ole Miss and now UM. Michigan involved but not sure if there’s an all out push from the Wolverines (there may be). Big run stuffer looks fairly athletic with high motor.

DE/Edge:

We are casting a huge net here as Cristobal seems to realize against today’s passing attacks this is important as any position on the field. This was a strength very recently in the Richt and Diaz years and now all of a sudden the cupboard is very thin (Diaz and Simpson failed here from about '19 on). Last year started a big step forward with Moss and Kelly. I would expect 2, maybe 3 here IN ADDITION to Bain who could end up outside or in…Some other possibilities listed in both the DT, TE, and LB categories (Bain, Bryant, Hicks, etc…).

Not sure whether Steele’s nickel is going to lean more DB/or more LB for his hybrid in the 4-2-5…Frierson is still being used there but I’m not sure who else. 3 traditional LB really not on the field often anymore for 4 man front defenses in CFB. Troutman, Brooks, TAC, T.Johnson all are gone… 2 or 3 is the number here, neither more likely than the other imo

Re-classified to 2023…One of top DB in SoFl since early in his HS career. Big get for UM here. A little raw for re-classification so a redshirt may be in order, but either way there’s a lot to be excited about and could end up being an ambassador for some of the local kids next year.

Under the radar (UNC unofficial visit). And I think he’s definitely underrated. Addae is his main recruiter so I’m going to put him in this category. He can be an in box safety, but if you twist my arm I think he ends up at LB. Capable of both the big hit and the sound wrap up…Gets his guy on the ground either way.

Oh…so skeeter, Stafford is a corner in this class not a receiver? I had him in the wrong place then. Figured we’re taking maybe 5 wr anyway so why not? What’s his best position?

He’s a corner for sure…I guess outside chance at free safety. but will start his career as a corner and is recruited soley for defense.

There seems to be small sentiment UM may circle back around on Hussey as safety #2 in this class…But even then their offer was late (May?) suggesting others are ahead of him.

UM w Cristobal/Addae was never interested in King Mack…No offer. Only small correspondence…Maybe his size in person is smaller than listed? I like his tape.

Skeeter, have you watched the films on Montgomery Carver Edge/LB JaQuavius Russaw? They’re incredible. It looks like he will commit to Georgia likely, but Alabama is also in play. We offered him along with his teammate 5 star James Smith, but IMO Russaw not Smith is going to be the game changer. He’s 6’3, 230 lbs and has sprinter’s speed.

There is smoke that UM becomes involved here. One of those Carver 2 has family in Soflorida. Will be in uphill battle and one I can’t see us winning vs. SEC/Bama, but who knows with Cristobal lol.

It takes time for things to settle in my mind, but you (Skeeter) mentioned this kid DT Darrell Jackson coming in via the portal may turn out to be a true steal. I watched some of his film and he moves extremely well considering his mammoth size. He comes from Nowhereville, Florida, a town named Havana in Gadsden County, FL, one of the few majority African American counties in the state. I know the town well since my family once had a cigar factory in Quincy. According to local sources here in the Panhandle, this kid is the real deal, brute strength, impressive bulk, and remarkably quick on his feet. Mario is doing wonders in the trenches reminding me of those days of yore that when you knew the day afterwards that you had played a game against the Miami Hurricanes. We’re starting to look like the Crimson Tide filling the cupboard with big bodies and mass producing linemen. The two decade wait wallowing in mediocrity seems to be coming to an end.

7/15 Update…Trimmed some fat here as kids committed elsewhere.

There has been some new DT offers going out…I will add names if I gauge two-way interest

DT seems to be the last position piece of this class…Bain is still likely UM, and he can be an inside/outside guy. There’s a chance Wayne grows into. But DT (I guess RB but it’s not a huge need) seems to be the only position not currently knocking out of the park this year, so I would expect some noise there late summer and into the fall.

Malik Bryant, Jayden Bonsu are expected to commit to UM next week, and Joenel Aguero is down to the wire with UM/BAMA/GA…
