I am surprised that it is money. I would think that Bama has been paying their own guys for years. I guess I am underestimating how much we are willing to pay over what Bama is paying. Maybe Bama has 2nd string guys just as good in their mind.
We all get hoodwinked by recruiting every year. And it’s not just Miami prospects. You go to the portal and guys we thought we’d be lucky to land are now looking for new homes. Not only is Cohen leaving Alabama but so is Tommy Brockermeyer, a top 5 national prospect from '21 who Saban snagged with his brother out of Fort Worth. Seemed like a “can’t miss” player but he started off hurt and never really got going. Played in like two games vs Austin Peay and Louisiana and is now going to TCU. He’s from there, maybe that’s where he should have signed to begin with? Were the evaluations just wrong or is Alabama just too tough a place to crack the depth chart?
Remember Justin Flowe? How bad everyone wanted him? Mario got him at Oregon and now he’s headed to Arizona. Are we just totally expecting too much from high school football players? Are we fooling ourselves with how good these players are to begin with? It’s got to be tough for the players to realize this and that they’re not quite worth all the smoke that was blown up their arses during their recruitments.

The point is not every recruit will chase every dollar…And IF Cohen did, that doesn’t mean he speaks for everyone. So claiming some type of dumb ass victory that didn’t happen when you don’t know who is offering what to whom, and who is turning down what.
