Over emotioal about what? Calling out the deficencies and not thinking we are perfect? We are like 5 years into this train, take out the competition you are supposed to handle.
Folks, we lost a bunch last year. Don’t ever let the media distort what the team appears to be on the field. We’re nowhere near the #4 team in the country. Oh, and beating a high school team 77-7 might make someone think that we are. I hope for better health so this team can get however far they’re meant to go. Hell, I’d like to see a conference title before we leave this league one day. Only been 23 seasons without one yet. Pitt has one and came in here a decade later than us. If it’s meant to happen, our health will get better. But I don’t see a deep playoff team with this group after what we lost.

Ok, listen, we are NOT the same team from last year. It is what it is.
This is my take…
QB: A healthy Mensah…great!
RB: A good stable of backs and hopefully Lyle’s legal stuff gets situated. Will have to wait to see about Fletcher and Brown though.
WR: Need more than just Toney and hopefully he’s ok. I like what I see overall from the group though.
TE: All I see is Loften
OL: We aren’t getting the push that we did last year for sure but one more “tuneup” game until we get into the meat of the ACC and also ND.
DL: Let’s see how Moten is…otherwise, good.
DE: FINALLY seeing some Lightfoot/Blount and just need this hyped Wilson to get moving… Still, what depth do we have?
LB: Not a good position for us this year, IMO
DB: Well, THIS is THE issue, right? Down our top 3 corners and we look it. Thornton can’t cover anyone…Heatherman and Co gotta figure out something to compensate for this group until the starters get back.
We came out from the start of WF taking a methodical march down the field, LOVED IT. First half was good but in the second half at some point it’s like we forgot how to get open, block, etc…we got “rattled” and it showed. I knew Wake would be a test for us and I think it’s good that we had this test to wake us up.
IMO, we need to rest guys like Moten, etc… for the central michigan game. I think they will be tougher than TAMU but we are gonna need our beasts for the remaining year. Clemnson will be our first “real” team and they aren’t as bad as the LSU game may indicate. FSU will be a tough one, UNC as well, PItt always plays us tough and of course ND. I don’t see us going undefeated this year. I think we lose against ND (based on what I am seeing now) and I think we lose one ACC game, tossup as to who it will be.
I liked that our D stepped up when needed and finished the game.
Now, let’s see how these injuries pan out.

I agree with the review and it’s what I said in the beginning before being told to simmer down…
Our O went limp for some reason and stopped firing on all cylinders which has been the MO of Dawson, at times. The O is far more dynamic with Mensah than it was with Beck but we took the foot off the gas in the 2nd half.
Those of us with a head on our shoulders knew that the D would be an issue this year but we did not expect the depletion of our secondary. Teams know this and will attack us there until we prove we can stop them. Teams also know we are not generating the pressure that we did last year, either.
Again, we have one more easy game before we get into the meat of the ACC and any of the remaining teams are not an easy win for us. Nothing can be taken for granted this year.
Not sure what the writer was saying but we thankfully do not play Louisville or SMU this year. IMO those would be 2 losses based on what I have seen so far.

Central Michigan: Win
Clemson: Win
FSU: Toss Up
UNC: Potential Loss
PItt: Win
ND: Loss
Duke: Win
Va Tech: Win
BC: Win
I think we lose 2, maybe 3
We should rest Moten, Toney and perhaps Lofton for the next game. I believe Fletcher and Brown are out a few weeks?
So, depth will be tested….

No way we lose to FSU or UNC. Have you watched these clowns play?
With the way the defense looked in that second half I think anyone with a halfway decent passing game could be a challenge for the secondary. And the our offense didn’t do anything in the second half as well. So I think anyone team could give Miami a challenge depending on how Miami plays.

Hey 89, I would say that last year, but not this year. We aren’t as strong as we were last year. Let’s see how these injuries shake out…
