There are “what ifs” in many football games. Good teams never have to look back and make excuses. They win their games regularly, experiencing one or two scares over an entire season. Miami is just a poor football team,
As for coaching at the end, I have no complaints. Manny played it conservatively, yet wisely. Our excellent kicker just missed the kick. Had he made it. Game over. Manny saw to it that there was no time for Virginia to come back and have a last minute field goal drive. The stage was well set for a win.
Storm is right on his point that top teams succeed largely because they succeed in recruiting top talent. Undoubtedly there are some fine coaches that mitigate not getting the four and five start recruits. From this group Miami needs to find a better coach. To date, I’d rate Manny an “average” coach, but average is not good enough at the U. It is not good enough because of past success where in twenty years we dominated college football. Forgetting the glory years is hard to do. Manny DID look like an up and comer, but he has stumbled badly this season. With the relative parity in the ACC, with a few exceptions, any one team can get hot and defeat the favored team as happened tonight.
I certainly was wrong predicting a resounding Miami victory. Virginia didn’t strike me as a very good football team, but they won the game tonight. The loss was painful.
Hey at least we are taking pictures with TD rings while getting our ass whooped by Virginia? Please put that fuckin gimmick shit away. So embarrassing and corny.
And I don’t know if it’s Banda, T-Rob, Diaz, Ed Reed…Whoever. It’s been about 4-5 years since I seen a safety on this team take a correct angle. It’s gross…Or maybe it’s just this position less back 7 Diaz has tried to envision…i.e. a back 7 with no hips.
You weren’t incorrect…They are not good and that was an awful game.
I think Van Dyke showed promise.
I cannot for the life of me understand why Jennings, Hall, and Ivey still see the field. Stevenson had a good 1h other than letting a punt bounce off his face at the 5. Then he didn’t play the 2h. We send the house over and over again…And we never get close. Dangerous combo.
Offensive line took a huge step back this year (it at least was only “bad” last year and King helped disguise some of that)…And Garin Justice doesn’t seem like he likes to recruit.
There are two good things on this team…Hedley and defensive tackles
I believe the RBs as a group would be good if Chaney was healthy…
DE stink, LB stink, CB stink, OL stink, TE stink…QB was above average as a college player, limited as a thrower, he’s hurt…Safeties are mediocre but the youth is promising, same with WR…All in all just too many holes that he’s had time to improve upon.
We should not be this bad. Virginia with no King would be easier to give a pass if we don’t lose to MSU…If we played into the 3q with Bama…If we keep it within 24 against Clemson…If he didn’t lose to so many retarded teams in year one.
I don’t have anything else. I think we win the game with King. But imo we should be well beyond needing King to defeat a young Virginia team with no defense.
POOR FOOTBALL TEAMS DON’T COMEBACK FROM TWO SCORES DOWN AFTER PLAYING LIKE SHIT ON OFFENSE WITH A FRESHMAN STARTER PLAYING GAME 2 TO PLAY A GREAT 2ND HALF AND PUT THEMSELVES IN POSITION TO WIN…
WE WERE MISSING 11 GUYS…
BIKKI STOP FOLLOWING THE LOSER STUGOTZ BRIGADE…
HE CATCHES IT WE OUT SCORE THEM 21-6 IN THE SECOND HALF WITHOUT THE CHIP SHOT FG…
HE PLAYED THE CLOCK AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE AND THE PLAYER CHOKED AND HE LOST…
I actually like the kid…And he’s a step up from Jennings. But canebill would be a step up from Jennings…I think an elite defense needs to do better than Corey Flagg. There are some good things with him though. I do not understand why a career stiff like Jennings ever sees a snap.
Yes they do…Happens constantly in cfb. That wasn’t a “great” 2h by any means and you have to consider it was a team half retarded on defense and average on offense.
HE CATCHES IT WE OUT SCORE THEM 21-6 IN THE SECOND HALF WITHOUT THE CHIP SHOT FG…
They still would have had 3rd down…We may be pinned on our own 1, that would have probably gone really well huh? (not sure, but Clarke leaped well before the goal line, so it’s probably not a touchback, but regardless it’s only part of my argument)…They play more aggressively on offense and probably score more against our shit show defense.
Skeeter summed it up rather well. Our LBs and secondary are weak Our defensive tackles are good, and Taylor may turn out to be elite, but not yet… If Virginia receivers didn’t drop a number of passes, they might have beaten us worse. I like Garcia better than Van Dyke though to his credit Van Dyke improved in the second half of last night’s game Van Dyke’s release is painfully slow, and he looks a tad clumsy moving in the backfield. Van Dyke’s long passes have too much arch on them. He does not have a good touch on the ball. Garcia’s release is faster and more natural.
It seems to me Miami fails at executing the short passing game where the QB lets in fly in about 30 seconds time. I can’t remember seeing a tight-end slant last night. Mallory just wasn’t part of the game last night save for one key block. Amazing that Mallory blocked someone. Ordinarily my grandmother blocks better than he. Didn’t see a bublble screen last night. Since that play requires a key block on the edge, maybe Lashlee held back calling it. Nevertheless our RBs, especially Knighton, who is GOOD, need to get the football in space. Camron broke a few tackles and played well. He was good in the redzone short yardage plays. This game was supposed to feature the rushing attack. I didn’t see much motion and as usual there was precious little deception. Miami is never going to fool a camera man. There were however a few decent counter plays.
There are times when I am embarrassed by the number of missed tackles that occur lately. I remember during the halcyon years, when teams played Miami win or lose, the next day they knew whom they had played. Nothing better than being in the stands and hearing the “crack” of a jolting tackle. I like Nesta Jade. He reminds me just a little of Jerome Brown, the Brooksville terror. Jerome talked the talk but oh did he back it up with his play. Playing opposite Jerome was a really painful experience. What a warrior Jerome Brown was.
I agree that had King played, Miami would have won this game going away. King has amazingly quick feet which come in handy when you have an offensive line like Miami’s. Hard to believe our offensive line was getting beat by Virginia.
Brashard Smith looks to me like a football player what little I’ve seen of him. I’d like to see him get touches in upcoming games.
There’s a reason other teams beat us by 1 or 2 TDs but we eek out wins by 2 or 3 points. There’s no killer instinct. There’s no pride. It’s a cliche but there it is.
The only arguments Storm can win are the ones he makes up.
I was at a concert with the wife which as 100x better than watching Miami.
Checked the score and quick highlights to see Manny dropped another game to a team with far less talent. UVA has 5 kids that had 4*! Talk about doing less with more (46 blue chippers at Miami vs 5 at UVA). Should be a real ass whipping next weekend @UNC. 2-4 with this much talent is a real shame. Makes me really think Miami is going to have a tough time making it to a bowl game this year.
