The problem is one of understanding what’s going on since there is a great deal of propaganda circulating. The incursion into Ukraine was precipitated by radical Ukrainian nationalists who call themselves Nazis. who have been murdering ethnic Russians in Donetsk and Luhansk for decades. They use this term because during WW2, Nazi leadership in Germany wanted to drive a wedge between Soviet Russia and Ukraine.
Russian citizens despise NATO, and are uncomfortable with NATO having nuclear weapons aimed towards their nation. Ukraine is seen by a large majority of Russians and Byelorussians as the heartland source of Eastern Slavic culture. Though Eastern Slavs speak different languages, they have a high measure of mutual language understanding. Russian and Bylorussian do have a higher degree of mutual understanding than do Russian and Ukrainians though many Ukrainians speak both languages every day. Zelensky for example is a Ukrainian actor, but the language of most of his films is Russian.
This war could easily have been avoided, but Biden historically has been on the wrong side of every foreign policy issue. He’s also very lazy and not a hard worker as was his predecessor. Worldwide, Biden is perceived not only as being demented, but very stupid for his disastrous pull out in Afghanistan and for his allowing the USA to be invaded by illegal aliens. Were Trump president, this war would likely not have happened. Trump’s foreign policy was stupendously successful. What we are experiencing are the consequences of a rigged election. Things were so much better in America under the skillful governance provided by the wonderful Orange Man.

Since most of my life, I did not own a television, I missed out on a lot of American culture. For example, I never watched All in the Family, Cheers, Seinfeld, Saturday Nigh Live or a host of other programs. I have spent my life working, writing, and reading. When I taught in high school, I explained to my students that the reason for my prosperity in life was my frugality and faith in Benjamin Franklin’s wisdom: From every dollar you earn, pay yourself first by saving ten percent, so I could not help but grow wealthy. In my mind, a wealthy person is one who only has a nebulous idea of his net worth. Asset value is not fixed but fluctuates.

No way this Ukraine situation would have spun out of control under Trump, for Trump was a businessman and seasoned negotiator who was a magnificent success creating a huge fortune by winning. He won the last election, only to have it stolen away from him. Now, we have to put up with the same kind of liberal failure that we see in our large cities while the progressives in this forum rack their brains trying to discern something good about Joe Biden. BTW, there are now 170,000 third worlders camped at our border ready to violate our immigration laws. It’s going to be a slaughter in the Mid-terms.

If you don’t have a knowledge of Russian history and literature, Willy, you’re going to have a hard time understanding Russians. Kiev is where the Fatherland began and is so regarded by Russians, Byelorussians, and Ukrainians. Crimea has never been Ukrainian in character, language, customs, schooling or anything else. Crimea is Russian through and through and should rightly be part of Russia.
