I said the same thing. I bet there are some actual problems, for sure, just like there are actual problems with everything in real life. 20k is a huge adjustment for that town. On one hand, the city was dying and needed an influx of people. Nobody was willing to go but these Haitian immigrants. Employers are happy to have them. But sure, I believe it’s a huge adjustment.

Ok, I found the video of the TikTok “influencer” in red somewhere else.
Guy in red was mostly complaining about Haitians hitting garbage cans and buildings. He’s talking traffic mostly. He did say “They up here killing ducks” or something, but he never said he saw that. It sounds like hearsay, but maybe it isn’t. Maybe he saw it. Maybe he’s lying for views.
But either way, I think I said up in the thread that that part is conceivable, but we don’t know much.
What we do know is there’s a huge influx of immigrants and it’s tough. This isn’t new info. The New York Times wrote a big article about it. So yes, it’s a known problem.
But at least most of us in this thread agree that Trump handled it like an idiot in the debate. I already posted what I think he should’ve said, and it did include a reference to eating cats for shock value, but he’s too dumb to do that.
This is the type of stuff that’s happening in Europe. If you look at the UK and Germany in particular, you will see stories where the immigrants are not assimilating, committing crimes and the police are covering it up and arresting people that speak out against it.
Remember, in much of Europe, there is no freedom of speech, no First Amendment. The government in England gives harsher sentences for what they deem hate speech in a lot of cases (anyone speaking out against the flood of immigrants) than they do those committing the crimes.
That could be a foreshadowing of what’s to come for the U.S.

My understanding is that a lot of them are legitimate refugees seeking asylum because of the situation in their home country, not illegal aliens.
Maybe the placement of large numbers of them in smaller cities should be considered. Or maybe limit the number in general.
Absolutely, TPS immigrants are legal. That is true.
My understanding is that Springfield was dying and no one was taking the jobs of multiple new factories in the area and that the employers wanted bodies bussed in to fill those roles. My understanding was that the immigrants are supposed to help revitalize the town.
That said, sure, the city council meeting has concerned residents complaining mostly about traffic, but also rude behavior in grocery stores, and homelessness, and general safety woes, and language issues, and city resources. These aren’t all necessarily 100% Haitian issues, but I hear them. They have valid concerns.

This TikToker in red is Anthony Harris. He’s a youtube comedian and he’s running for mayor! You could see it right there on his shirt. Here’s a link about possibly Haitian car crashes.
Anyway, I’m not sure if he’s really running for mayor or it’s a comedy skit or what, but I wouldn’t take what he says as gold.
At the whole city council meeting, I think he was the only one with ONE offhand mention of Haitians eating animals. He was mostly talking about car accidents.
