The DOJ under Biden. Has been as apolitical as they come. Garland has absolutely impressed. Biden has done a great job of not mettling and hopefully returning some civility to the administrative state.
And if they would have done the same for Obama when he had docs or Hillary when they asked for info then maybe folks wouldn’t be so upset.
Whether they have something or not, the manner in which they went after it is pretty bad.
In a politically charged environment it seems like a pretty bad miscalculation unless they have something that puts him in an orange jumpsuit.

This is a valid question that may have already been answered. I believe it was stated that this raid was instigated by information from an informant. Perhaps that will be revealed in the unsealed warrant.

Absolutely. I already said I doubt he’ll see serious repercussions. This raid is a big deal in terms of it happening to a former president, also in that I don’t think the FBI and everyone else would have signed off on it merely as a political ploy.
BUT that doesn’t mean Trump will be nailed to the wall over it. Is it a possibility, sure, of course. If the guy was contemplating selling nuclear secrets to Saudi Arabia, he might even get the death penalty. Do I personally think the proof/consequences will go that far? No.
By the same token, I’m not starting fights across 3 threads about how this is the biggest political injustice against an innocent man. We should give the system a little bit of time. If Trump doesn’t want to reveal the warrant, that’s his prerogative. The DOJ says they are going for it, let’s see if they do. Let’s see what they announce about this raid, as our opinions should be shaped by results.
IF they busted Trump selling secrets…
THEN the raid was called for and Trump is a traitor.
IF they merely recovered documents Trump refused to turn over and that’s the end of the matter…
THEN everybody’s making way too big a deal about the FBI serving a warrant.
IF it turns out the informant was a plant and this whole thing is a smear campaign…
THEN heads should roll and we should take measures to make sure the DOJ is not weaponized.
All the barking before the results is just noise.
