Always feel free to comment on any of this kids, 80…Or any you see that I left off, feel I have overacted/underrated, etc. My lists are just based off hudl tape and the opinions of a couple long-timer local guys on CIS.
Just don’t wanna hear about your opinion how Trump is satan re-incarcerated, and the 97000 people you know who died of covid within an hour of getting it.
Thanks
Updated for couple transfers, including a big one with UM DL target Cunningham transferring from Cali to Central.
I broke down about 6-7 schools so far. I will attach them here once I get back into town. A good friend of mine passed so it’s hard for me to post that stuff from my phone.
One of the premier programs year in and year out is Fort Lauderdale Saint Thomas Aquinas. They come off winning another state championship in 2022. We expect the Raiders to be one of the favorites this year to win another state title. Saint Thomas is loaded with talent once again. We will break down the Raiders and give you our thoughts of their prospects.
Prospects
James Madison- WR - 6-2, 190 (2024):** Madison is a good route runner. He understands how to run routes and get open. He does not have great top end speed. He does a good job of finding the ball and adjusting to it in the air. He has good hands. Madison is a kid that has great upside and could be a No. 1 receiver at the next level. (Projected Level: P5)
Chance Robinson- WR - 6-1, 190 (2024) (Committed to Miami):** Robinson is another very good receiver. Most teams don’t get lucky enough to have two elite receivers on the same team. He has good hands. When the ball is in the air, Chance will come down with it. You can throw it over either shoulder and the kid will adjust to the football. He will win most of the 50-50 balls with a defensive back. (Projected Level: P5)
Stacy Gage RB - 5-11, 200 (2024):** Gage teams with Jordan Lyle to give Saint Thomas a nice 1-2 punch out of their backfield. Gage gives Saint Thomas some power in their backfield. He runs hard and is not easy to tackle. He is a kid that can run between the tackles or bounce it outside and break off a long run. He has pretty good vision. He will pop through the line of scrimmage and find daylight. (Projected: P5)
Jordan Lyle - RB - 6-0, 190 (2024) (Committed to Ohio State): Surprised by his commitment to Ohio State. Would not be surprised if they recruited over him. He has good speed. He is a back that will bounce the ball to the outside. He is not one that you can just pound into the middle of the line of scrimmage and pick up the tough yards. That is going to be Gage’s job. He has the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. He is a solid back that should have a productive college career. (Projected Level: P5)
Nicholas Rodriguez- OLB - 6-1, 200 (2024):** Some kids you recruit based on potential. Others you recruit because they are good football players. Rodriguez is a very good football player. He is around the ball all the time. He has good football instincts. He understands the game of football. We expect to continue to have success at the next level. (Projected Level: P5/G5)
Ryan Mack DB - 5-11, 170 (2024):I was not real high on this kid until watching him at the Rivals Camp. He is a dog. Mack comes after receivers. He will challenge receivers. You will see him come up and press them at the line of scrimmage. Mack is a kid that has good coverage skills. He can play corner or safety at the next level. (Projected Level: P5)
Justin Bodford- DT - 6-2, 280 (2024) Defensive tackles are tough to find. Justin will draw interest because there are so few quality interior lineman to recruit each year. He has good size. Justin is solid against the run. He is tough to move off the ball. He lacks great burst so Justin is limited to what he can do up front. He is not going to give you much as a pass rusher. (Projected Level: G5)
Justice Fitzpatrick DB - 6-0, 180 (2026):** If the last name sounds familiar it should. His brother was Minkah Fitzpatrick, who played at Alabama and is now in the NFL. He will be one of the more sought after players in South Florida. He has the chance to be very good. (Projected Level: P5)
Other Names to remember: Romanas Frederique Jr - CB - 6-1, 170 (2024), Brian Suarez - OL - 6-3, 280 (2024), Logan Husbad - DE - 6-5, 220 (2025), Brandon Joseph - DT - 6-2, 290-(2025), Jaylin Wallace - Ath. - 6’1-225 (2024)
Final Thoughts: We have yet to hit Saint Thomas for a practice. We will probably be able to add another 10 names to this list after. They bring players in each spring that are not on last season’s roster. Gage is already one of them. We will update this list once we see them in person.
Good stuff…Thanks. Feel free to start your own thread with this/and if you are going to do more teams.
It’s cloudy how big of a priority Mack is for UM, I hope they take him. UM legacy and I like his game and versatility.
I have done some other ones - just gotta copy and paste them.
Spring Preview: Seminole High School (Sanford, FL)
Preston Watson - DT - 6’2-270 (2024): (Committed to Duke) Watson plays a position that is in such high demand. He is very active on the defensive line. You will see his strength as he will push guys backwards. His lower body strength allows him to anchor down and make him tough to move off the ball. He uses his hands well to get off blocks. This is a kid that while committed to Duke could get someone else knocking at his door. (Projected Level: P5/G5)
Kenyon Holden - Ath. - 6’3-170 (2024): Holden plays on both sides of the football. He has very good size. He is a matchup problem for smaller defensive backs. He is long and athletic. He catches the ball well. You will see him catch the ball away from his body. (Projected Level: P5/G5)
Ethan Pritchard - LB - 6’2-200 (2025): Pritchard is an old-school linebacker. He comes up and fills the hole. He is very good against the run. You can see him run well laterally. He is physical and will punish a ball carrier. He will read what the offensive line in doing in front of him and react quickly. The question will be like with most linebackers is his ability to play in coverage. Can he be an every-down backer? He has played some safety so that should give you an idea of what type of athlete Pritchard is. (Projected Level: P5)
Max Buchanan - OT - 6’4-275 (2025) : Buchanan is listed as a tackle, guard or center. He has the versatility to line up at all three positions at the next level. He comes off the ball very well. He is one of the quicker linemen you will see. He will block the first defender and then come back and block a second defender. He would be ideal in a zone blocking scheme. He has good feet. You are looking at one of the better looking prospects in Central Florida. (Projected Level: P5)
Juan Berchal - CB - 5’10-155 (2025): Berchal performs on both the gridiron and track. He is one of the better athletes on his football team. His lack of size (5’10) will limit where he plays at the next level. He can play corner but most schools will recruit him to cover the slot position. He did not allow a touchdown last season so that should tell you what type of cover skills the kid has. He plays aggressive. He does not mind coming up and tackling a ball carrier. His football instincts help him overcome some of his physical limitations.
(Projected Level-P5/G5)
Others to keep an eye on:
Damun Allen-CB-6’1-160 (2024), Michael Key-WR-6’0-170 (2024), Karson Siqyeriros-Lasky-QB-6’2-180 (2024)
Orlando Evans High School
DB-Brandon Jacob - FS-6’2-180 -(2024): Jacob is one of the bigger defensive back/safety prospects on the board. He has the size and length you want in a defensive back. We like him as a free safety because of his range. He is long and athletic. Here is a kid that you can put on the hash and Jacob can cover half the field. He can also come up into the box and play the run. You are looking at a kid with nice upside and should only get better from here. (Projected Level: P5) FSU has offered and is showing interest.
Ath.-Devontae Grant-Ath.-6’0-155-(2025): Grant is another prospect that can play on both sides of the football. You will see him line up at safety and receiver. He has decent speed and quickness. He has the ability to come over the top and help out in pass coverage. You would like to see him have a little more top end speed. He is more of a possession receiver at the next level. He lacks great size that is why we project him more as a defensive back. (Projected Level: G5/FCS)
Others to keep an eye on: DB-Berverlentz Bernard-6’0-190 (2024), QB-Chris Peterson-6’3-190 (2024), RB-Gaboreius D. Baldwin-6’0-200, CB-Kemsley Louis-Charles-5’11-160, WR-Antoine Demps-6’2-180, DT-Jermael Paul-6’3-280 (2024)
Orlando Edgewater High School
WR/DB-Cai Bates-6’2-170 (2024): Bates is the most sought after prospect at Edgewater this season. He is listed as a receiver but we project him as a defensive back. Bates has the ability to play CB or S at the next level. He has the size and range to play on the back end of the defense. He runs well and has good football instincts. We see him similar to a Xavier Rhodes who played receiver in high school and coveted to CB. (Projected Level: P5) FSU has shown interest.
DE-Josh Alexader-6’3-250 (2024): Alexander is a kid that holds up against the run well. He has the ability to stop the run. He is not going to give you a whole lot as a pass rusher. He is not going to be an every down player in college. Probably more of a situational type defensive lineman. He is productive but you would like to see him be a little more explosive. (Projected Level: P5/G5)
RB-Kaden Shields-Dutton (2024): Shields will take over as a lead back for Edgewater. Dutton has above average speed and quickness. You would like for him to have another gear. He runs with patience and will wait for an opening in the line of scrimmage. (Projected Level: G5/Academic Schools)
WR-AJ Howard-6’0-160 (2024): Howard can make an impact on special teams. He has the type of speed and quickness to flip a field on one play. At worst some team will put him on special teams and let him make plays. He is a deep play threat on offense. He has good but not great hands. You would like to see him catch the ball away from his body. He does adjust and sees the ball well. We project him as a slot receiver even though you will see him line up on the outside. (Projected Level: G5)
RB/LB-Ja’Torian Mack-6’0-170 (2025): Mack plays both linebacker and running back. The way he plays on defense it is going to be tough for him not play on defense in college. He is very aggressive. He is a head hunter on the defensive side of the football. You will see him drop back into coverage and make plays. He is one of the best overall players on his football team. (Projected Level: P5)
CB-WR-Semaj Fleming-5’10-170 (2025): Fleming is an athlete. He is the type of player you recruit and worry about where to play him once on campus. His game is more suited to playing the secondary. The one thing that can change that is college coaches want players who when they touch the ball can score. Fleming is one of those types of players. (Projected Level: G5)
WR-Luke Anderton-6’3-160 (2025) Anderton has good size (6’3) and solid hands. He lacks great burst and top end speed. We see him more as a possession receiver at the next level. He will also need to hit a weight room and gain some size. He only weighs around 160 pounds at this time. (Projected Level: FCS)
Others to keep an eye on: MLB-Solomon Tripline-6’1-190 (2024), OLB-Damon Troutman-5’11-180 (2024), CB-Kylen Meadows-5’11-165 (2024), OT-Ben Bankowitz-6’3-270 (2026), QB-Michael Clayton-6’3-180 (2026)
Orlando Jones High School
DT-D’Antre Robinson-6’4-275 (2024): Robinson is the top rated player on Jones football team. He may be the top rated prospect in Central Florida. He is a massive looking person when you meet him. He can take on a double team. He is very effective against the run. You would like to see a little more burst off the ball. Robinson is not going to be an elite pass rusher in the middle of your defense. (Projected Level: P5)
CB-James Chenault-5’11-170 (2024): One thing you will notice on his film is James feet. He puts himself into good position to make plays on the ball. He has good coverage skills. He does a good job of opening up and running with a receiver. He can stop and start back up with no issues. He is fluid in his hips. This kid is an underrated defensive back and one we feel could move up the boards. (Projected Level-P5/G5)
RB-Jerrian Parker-5’11-190 (2024): Parker is a solid back. He does not look real big on film. He is a kid that can break some tackles. He runs hard and is not always easy to bring down. He is effective in the open field. Get him some space and let him work his magic. He is a kid that is going to run well to the outside. Can he be an every down back? (Projected Level: G5/FCS)
Others to keep an eye on: CB-Cedric Demonia-5’10-160 (2024), TE-Tyrin Randle-6’2-235 (2024), SS-George Brown-5’10-175 (2024)-QB-Dereon Coleman-5’11-150 (2026)
These rankings gonna stay where they’re at til maybe Oct/Nov senior years.
Slight down year overall…Down year in Dade for sure (but some top prospects are playing in Broward)? Broward good but public schools seem to be down. Palm Beach stronger after a couple of down years. All 3 counties gravitating towards private schools.
QB- decent year, no locks though.
RB- strong year
WR- average year, slightly above average at top…Not super deep as some years
TE- Below average I guess overall. Not much, but a really good one at top
OL- Weak even by South Florida standards
DL- Below average…No sure fire stars, but overall a good depth year. Lot of DE/DT tweeters.
LB- Average maybe slightly below…Capers may be an end
DB- Average, ehhh maybe slightly below because not much star power… no 5 stars and there usually is in tri- county…No stars at corner, but really deep with some nice players. . Safety is opposite with a stud on top.
80 what about Jones CB/WR Vernell Brown? UM “offered” and seems like getting plenty of attention.
His father played at florida but not sure pops is influencing him. Westwood does not play great competition so the move to Jones should tell us much more about his ability.I like what I have seen so far but want to see him play this year.
OK I was wondering why you didn’t list him initially…But you just mentioned the transfer so that makes sense.
For those interested and part of CIS
The poster itsdolphhh is making threads position by position for EVERY FBS or FCS Tri-County signee this past season ('23) with a breakdown. Good stuff
Adjusted for a couple highly ranked players (UM Commit Rudolph and also PSU T.A. Cunningham) transferring back out of Sofla
Final synopsis here…Amare Williams, who re-classified (as did Blount) still pending. He will sign in February
UM lands 7 of my top 12, as Cristobal continues to build the fence.
As far as offers go.
UM lands 9 so far (again with Williams pending)…
These are the players who, by my estimation had definite commitable offers that signed elsewhere
#1 Smith
#5 McCoy
#9 Heinrich
#10 Bowens
#15 Barney
#25 Lucas (albeit not til about October/November
#41 Bailey (albeit not til November)
Gray area or maybe would have accepted a commit at some point, or in the case of the DB they were on a first come/first serve with kids who committed.
#24 Ricky Knight
#17 Jamari Howard
#14 Dylan Stephenson
Any other “offers” I believe were simply interest offers, not commitable…I also didn’t include Shavers, who we moved on from late in the process. So that’s 9 out of 16…I believe they needed to see more Stephenson, and I honestly believed they weren’t playing Howard’s games (for instance they still wanted Lucas but basically showed Howard no attention from September on despite a Norland state run) so I’ll say Ricky Knight was the only miss (who again was probably scouted about equl/similar to Frederique) and call it 9-17 at the current time. That’s a pretty good Tri-County batting average. Show something on the field, and the fence is basically built!
