In fact, it is interesting how Republicans handle this “fentanyl disaster.” We have Marsha Blackburn almost shutting down the government, along with GOP outlets like the Washington Free Beacon, over an initiative by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration within HHS to provide funds for organizations that distribute harm reduction kits to drug users. Of course, she’s taken $1 million from pharmaceuticals, many associated with the same companies making the opioid painkillers that brought on the crisis itself. Now, I know you’re a daily repeater of GOP talking points, so you probably don’t know the basics…fentanyl is the third wave of the opioid crisis dating back to 2000.
In 2014, Blackburn co-sponsored the Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Drug Enforcement Act, a nice name for a bill written by pharmaceutical lobbyists that significantly hindered the government’s ability to halt suspicious shipments of narcotics.
Now, how does that square with you notion? Blackburn flat out made it more difficult to halt and inspect shipments of narcotics. In 2017, she admitted it MIGHT have had unintended consequences, but an official with the DEA said he had briefed her in detail in 2016 on how it would worsen the opioid crisis.
Interestingly, it appears the synthetic opioids really began their spike at a particular time…
It’s really curious how it is now Biden’s fault and the border’s fault for drug addicts’ choices. But, of course, when it’s the red states affected…
So, you state the Dems want an open border. Can you point to any Democrat who’s said that, any policy to promote that, or even any cuts to customs and border patrol? In fact, can you let me know when Biden repealed the laws relating to the border? Are there no checkpoints anymore? Is there no CBP anymore? I’m sure you have ample evidence showing we have an open border.

China is creating the drug and drug traffickers and the cartels are using the border to smuggle it into our cities and exacerbate the drug issues we already have in the US.
And the reason that I hold Congress and the Biden admin responsible is that they create a pull factor for people to come here. Their message is basically come on over.
We have record border apprehension. Great. But we also have a record number of people making it in. And some of them are bringing really bad things.
Is it all on Biden? Of course not. There’s lots of blame to go around. But he puts Kamala in charge of the border and that’s like a complete joke. It’s like he’s purposefully setting her up to fail.
