Even though Chauvin did not follow the second portion of the manual, he did put the subject in the suggested position to subdue him head facing down to allow the lungs to expand. The standard for conviction is reasonable doubt. One of the medical examiners declared George Floyd did NOT die of asphyxiation. George Floyd had four times the lethal dose of fentanyl in his system, severely congested arteries, vigorously resisted arrest fighting off three cops, exhibited excited delirium, had just committed a crime, and was a five-time prison loser. Floyd has one of the biggest, most expensive funerals in history during the height of Covid, and the poor white guy is sent to prison for murder after a trial in a venue where a mob stood outside a barricaded courthouse. Sorry, this was not justice. Now mouldering in prison, the guy hasn’t the resources to have mounted an appeal although one Minneapolis attorney handled the case pro bono. Chauvin’s conviction was a judicial travesty of the highest order, and it will find its way into law school classrooms as a leading example of justice denied. The number of mistakes made by the prosecution, judge, and defense lawyer are monumental.
