Official Visits kick off this month (Updated for 6/20 weekend!)

One of the bigger recruiting weekends in UM history is this wknd… And the best part is, seems like the next 3 weekends are all this caliber or close to it.

My own personal opinion on percent we land them

Consensus 5 Star
WR Keys, MS 10%
DT L.Brown, LA 5%

Probably two of the top 10 players in nation…Both long shots

Regarded as top 50-75 type players, 5 Star on some lists
RB Cooper, Chaminade 70%
CB Kennon, Sarasota Booker 40%
DE A.Jones, Bama 15%

Would be great if Cooper gets on board this weekend. We are starting to be called the favorite there.

Solid 4 Star types
CB Matthews, NC 10%
WR Hampton, NY 20%
DT Stancil, NC 35%
WR Wingo, St.Augustine 50%
LB Morris, Lakeland 25%
CB Jennings, Jax Mandarin 35%

I believe these are all in if they want.

Others
DB Portis, NC 100% UM
S Watkins, SC 10%
DT Kennedy, Ark 30%
TE Turner, TX 30%
DE Norman, STA 35%
DE Lafayette, Lake Nona 50%

I believe Kennedy is in if he wants in, and it seems like the interest is growing there fresh of Mizzou de-commit. Some of the others may be able to commit right now, I’m just not 100% positive. Portis is rock solid.

Updated % out of this week’s visits…And this is by no means me with any type of knowledge or any type of science. Just going by what is out there (and again, kids can be flat out lying to pump up NIL offers elsewhere) . There were no commits, Portis obviously still solid.

Keys 15%
L.Brown 25%
Cooper 65%
Kennon 10%
A.Jones 50%
Matthews 20%
Hampton 10%
Stancil 45%
Wingo 55%
Morris 5%
Jennings 60%
Watkins 20%
Kennedy 10%
Turner 40%
Norman 30%
Lafayette 30%

This coming weekend is another huge weekend, on par with this past week.

Were you surprised by zero commits? Don’t know what the percentage “yield” is historically. Of course, in the NIL err, history is history. Have to imagine a commit helps carry over into subsequent recruiting weekends. How one gets momentum.

Curious how this plays out these days at other Big Boy schools.

Only slightly…Kids seem to either get the big deal early or negotiate nowadays. Also it seems that CMC at times does tell kids to sit not heir commitments, so for all we know he did nab one or two.

Week/weekend of 6-8

Consensus 5*
OL Cantwell, MO 95% UM Commit

Sounds like a wrap, this kid is all in with UM.

Top 75, maybe 5 Star on some lists
DT, J.Johnson, MNW 55%
DT, B.Perry-Wright, GA 25%

Johnson is thought to be a UM lean, and is now at Miami NW. BPW is the nephew or cousin of Ray Lewis. Both near top of our DT board.

Solid 4 Star Types
LB J. Campbell, MNW 85% UM Commit
TE/OL Heze Kent, GA 50%
CB J. Waters, Armwood 90% UM Commit
CB J.Wyman, GA 95% UM Commit
S T. Green, GA 10%
QB D. Coleman, Orl Jones 100% UM Commit
S D.Jackson, Orl First Academy 55%
OL B. Kolojay, IMG 30%
Edge K.Okpala, TX 10%

Campbell should be solid but who knows, is taking visits and we have a new LB coach. I believe everyone here is in if they want, but not 100% sure on Okpala and Green. Our commits should be recruiting heavily for us this weekend, like the fact all scheduled together.

Others:
WR B.Robinson, TX 40%
OL C.Pickett, TB Tech 55%
DT T. Bacon, AL 25%
DT F.Wilson Spruce Creek 25%
OL J.Ervin, Ft. Myers 100% UM Commit

The staff supposedly loves Ervin and with his stock rising I think he could end up a 4*, not that that matters. Of this list I believe Robinson is in if he wants, I think Pickett is too, although not 100% sure. F.Wilson they like, but is probably waiting on others. No idea on Tyson Bacon, who was once committed to the Vols.

Updated percentages for this past wknd…Again, just reading and interpreting tea leaves. And these percentages are dumb, but hey you aren’t paying for em lol… Obviously kids aren’t going to say much negative after a visit.

J.Johnson 60%
BPW 35%
J.Campbell 90% (shut down visits)
Kent 45%
Waters 95%
Wyman 100%
Green 35%
Coleman 100%
D.Jackson 50%
Kolojay 55%
Okpala 5%
B-Rob 20%
Pickett 75%
Bacon 30%
F.Wilson 35%
Ervin 100%

The big movers according to the grapevine this weekend were

Up: Green, Kolojay, Campbell shutting down visits
Down: B.Robinsin, ehhh maybe D.Jackson just because I’d thought he’d commit, but I’d still call us the leader if I had to.

OK so this past weekend netted two commits from a solid to high 3* with big time offers (Clemson, UF) as well as a low 4* with big time SEC offers (I’ve seen OSU/GA mentioned with Bacon, but I’m not sure where he was at with those two…probably couldn’t commit), but was a Tennessee commit at one point and the Bama seemed to be legit interest)

Onward to yet another big weekend, although maybe slightly below the monster status of the last two.

6-13

Consensus 5 Star
WR Russell MNW 50%

The word is his entire recruitment is going to come down to the dollar. I have to think there is just a little soft spot in there for the home town team who will at the least be competitive with the NIL. Mother is a UM basketball HOFer

Solid 4 Star Types
RB Lamar, GA 30%
WR Z.Robinson, TX 30%
TE I. Briggs, CA 60%
DB Stewart, GA 55%
S Redding, GA 40%

It sounds like UM is just ahead of Clemson for Stewart and I think can maybe wrap things up there. Lamar reminds me a lot of James Jackson, and has two former teammates including his cousin at UM right now. There are also rumors UM RB commit Mallory is flirting with Bama. Briggs de-committed from ASU and UM is the leader. Redding is a pure safety whose teammate Wyman is committed to UM. I believe all these kids are in if they want, although I’m not positive on Redding and Garrett.

Others:
DB Barnes, NC 25%
WR Evans, NC 25% Tenn Commit
OL Sparks 95% Jax Bolles UM Commit
OL Woodrow 95% Orl Boone UM Commit

Two commits and a couple of NC kids. Barnes is a new name whose tape looked surprisingly good to me. I’m not sure either NC kid can commit at the moment, with Evans being more likely in that aspect.

6/20

Consensus 5 Star
None, but some high 4*s for sure.

Regarded as top 50-75 type players, 5 Star on some lists
DE Wilson, MS 10%

Longshot, but the last couple years have told us never count out JT for a big-time DE prospect.

Solid 4 Star types
WR Spafford, CA 45% Georgia Commit
DE Wilkes, AL 35%
DE Charles, Venice 65%
WR Lopez, Chaminade 60%
LB Forkpa, IMG 25%
RB Mallory, West Boca 60% UM Commit
OL Congdon, OH 90% UM Commit

I believe everyone here is in if they want. Mallory is flirting with Bama, and UM leads for Cooper and is in a battle with Georgia for Jae Lamar. I like all 3 backs, but not sure Mallory or Lamar will want to be the 3rd RB commit. Forkpa is the one I’m not sure can commit, my gut tells me yes.

Others:
DT Finch, IN 10%
CB D. Anderson Winter Garden 5%

Confident that Anderson is a backup plan. I’m not sure on Finch. My guess is he can’t commit until we know what others are doing.
