Not entirely true. I can only speak for NY/NJ but the biggest vaccine skeptics in these areaās are majority minority groups. Only 38% of black people have been vaccinated in NJ.
I myself have not been vaccinated. I had covid and my qualitative antibody count is over 1800 with normal T cell levels. According to all peer reviewed data I have natural immunity along with 80 million others out there. If we arenāt going to account for this then the agenda is clear.
GSC, at some point people need to be responsible and stop letting politics get into the middle of it. You can bring out any number you want. The reality is you and everyone else around you are better off getting the vaccine. It allows our country to finally move forward. The stubbornness of some people to deny factsā¦that the vaccine works is mind blowing already.
I believe I stated in another thread. My friend who is a doctor in NJ had 40 people come in the last week with covid. Of those vaccinated (8) not a single one of them that caught it had any side effects or were sick. NONEā¦There were 32 who were not vaccinated that caught covid. 8 of them ended in ICU. There were 2-3 that showed no symptoms or very little. Of the rest they were very sick. Now, you donāt have to be a math major but the numbers show that if Vaccinated and even if you catch covid there is little to no effect. If you donāt get vaccinated you are way more likely to end up in ICU or very sick. So what does it take. I am starting to believe that you and storm have taken the vaccine. If not and you did not catch covid hopefully for your sake and your families you stay safe. I think it is very selfish at this point to not have gotten vaccinated. I have yet to speak to one doctor who is against it.
As for Government agenciesā¦they have every right to make sure you are vaccinated. They donāt want to be responsible if there is a major outbreak and someone gets very ill or dies. It is called being responsible. If you donāt want to get vaccinated then it is their right to not keep you employed. They are not saying you canāt get any jobā¦They are just saying you cant have one of their jobs. That is not communismā¦It is their right to say to bad. I agree. If I owned a business like a restaurant, I would make every single person there show they have been vaccinated. I would not want the liability of having someone get everyone sick and then getting sued. No one is taking your rights away from workingā¦but those around you that donāt agree should not have to pay the price because of your beliefsā¦Open your own businessā¦No one is saying you cant and have what ever rules you want.
I agree that the vaccine seems to be reasonably effective, which is a miracle. But you are totally discounting the 80 million folks or more that have had the virus and have antibodies that are likely better than the vaccine. It doesnāt make sense for them to get the vaccine and in some cases it could be dangerous.
This vaccine hasnāt gone through the same clinical trials and itās still under Emergency Use Authorization. Itās foolish to say folks are inconsiderate to not get the vaccine. The folks that get it should be protected if it works, right?
Let others make their own choices based upon their individual risk. My body, my choice.
The vaccines work against Alpha variant 95% of the time.
The vaccines work against Delta variant less than 95% of the time.
If the variants continue to happen (which we should expect) the percent of efficacy will likely drop which would mean we would need a higher number of immune people (natural or vaccinated) to reach herd immunity against new variants. Letās get real, USA Herd Immunity doesnāt Fāing matter as it will not happen with Covid.
All of this is a personal choice. If you donāt hang around people much then your choice is your choice. The same is true if you have already had it, are younger and HEALTHY.
What I will say, this shit isnāt going away so people better get adjusted to new variants every 2-4 months from some third-world country. Until the world reaches herd immunity, there will be variants and discussions about the vaccine including additional shotsā¦
The longer one can wait to get the vaccine without catching COVID, the better off they likely are. I just know Delta spreads as easily as chickpox while Alpha didnāt. If Gamma spreads quicker/easier, the chances of contracting it by an unvaccinated person that hasnāt had covid increases.
One last point, the discussion of getting the anti-vaxers to get the vaccine is beyond stupid. The USAās risk isnāt from our 20% that arenāt going to get the vaccine. Sure they could get sick and cause a small spike in cases but they arenāt the real risk compared to the 7B in the world that havenāt had it and arenāt vaccinated.
I like you Elite but this is not true. This is anecdotal and dangerous. The hospital data and preliminary data tell a different story.
We are nowhere near where we were during the first wave. Not to mention deaths have not followed during this wave like it did during the first wave. Also NJ has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country and we just became the #1 state in the country with the highest death rate per capita.
The government cannot make sure you are vaccinated, the states can enforce this but the federal government cannot not. The Jacobson case in 1905 gave the power to the states.
My issue with this mentality is that every person that sayās this should be mandated is neglecting the 100 million that have natural immunity and beat covid without a sniffle like myself. My antibody count is higher than most vaccinated.
Now letās talk the northeast demographic. NY/NJ is minority dominating in many selected areaās. With the biggest hesitancy rates in these areaās it will be hypocritical for those who support BLM and throw up a fist in one breath but then tell people of color to fall in line and obey. I can tell you this. BLM is mobilizing in NJ and is going to fight this. If segregation is the goal then good luck. Everyone must assume their own risk. If you received the vaccine it has no bearing on my decision to receive it or not. That decision of risk falls on me. You are covered.
I agree with this. The counter that people will make is that you are screwing society by not getting it because it allows variants to spread. If we all got it we could more or less kill the virus.
Iām not saying thatās my point, but thatās the argument folks would make to counter your point.
Valid if Jersey hadnāt already had Covid and the world wasnāt the real cause of new variants. There hasnāt been a single variant caused by the USA.
China
Italy
Uk
India
Not saying it isnāt possible but it is far more likely to continue to come from countries with large populations and no immunity.
Again, having natural antibody count of <1800 puts me in a better class of protection than most vaccinated.
Hereās the kicker. Those who are vaccinated are spreading the variants at a much higher rate than expected. The CDC has gone from 95% efficacy with infection to now it doesnāt stop transmission but you wonāt die. Who are we kidding here?
As with the flu and with pneumonia, virusā will mutate. Thatās according to peer review. The end game was supposed to be controlling the virus to the point where itās no worse than the flu. All existing data shows weāve basically achieved this. Since the vaccine was open to all age groups in March, pro rated deaths have dropped to the point where by March 2022 the death rate is expected to be at 60,000 to 80,000 over the course of the year. If your idea of success is zero sum game then good luck.
