Miami vs Notre Dame Game

This is the kind of game we always lose. I have a feeling we’ll be kicking nothing but field goals and we’ll lose discipline against their run game. IF we are to turn the corner, we handle ND here at home…But, I’m going to say we see the same stuff we always see in big games, an L.

Man I hope they prove me wrong.

Over the years, UM has been pretty good against rushing teams. In fact, when Oklahoma was crushing opponents with its wishbone, it was none other than the Miami Hurricanes who became the first team to stuff them. Miami, more recently, does however get burned on QB scrambling, and somehow it too often surrenders the corner, and the QB romps for a first down that should have never happened.

Heatherman has a good track record of his team’s containing the run. ND runs predominantly between the tackles. Love and Price will get yardage, but Miami plays inspired football against the Irish, and I think the Canes limit the Irish from running roughshod over us.

Beck has thrown for over 8,000 yards as a collegiate QB, playing against many top tier defenses in the SEC. Beck will be throwing to the best group of WRs we’ve had in two decades. IMO, Notre Dame is in for a big surprise by the number of receivers we have who are YAC threats. You’ll recall that when ND defeated Geogia last year, Carson Beck didn’t play. Needless to say, this is a huge game especially for Beck and for Coach Hetherman. I think the Hurricanes will prevail.

The best group of receivers in 20 years? Our current roster? Really? Don’t get me wrong, I think we DO have some playmakers on our team but best in 20 years? That’s saying this group is better than last year’s group.

I will say it again, discipline, gap assignments, tackle (not just try to truck them over like Madden Football).

Anyway, we are all playing weekend Coach. We will know soon enough.

The trenches will determine this game. ND will rely heavily on the run. Our much better DB group should give our guys time to get to the QB on passing downs but our Oline MUST live up to the hype.

Miami 20
ND 17

Time of possession and penalties. UM must avoid dumb penalties to pull it off.

Sure is quiet on the board on gameday!

I’m in Beaver Dam, WI visiting my wife’s family. I told my wife that at 7:30 PM I am otherwise disposed. have dinner finished by then. She said if I am going to curse then I can’t watch on the big living room TV. I need to watch in the small office room.

So I may have a lot of pent up energy afterwards. Typically, I record the game and watch it after, never live. Zip through the commercials. And zip through the excruciating parts of the game. Alas, not tonight. Have to sit through it all. Maybe pace a bit too.

As prelude, it is nice to see Virginia Tech playing well. Just watched the third quarter and, while both teams seem to lack consistency, VT is still hanging with South Carolina. There’s a bunch of teams I am “used to” being good and VT is one of them. Beamer Ball and all that. Anytime someone can beat a SEC team, I am in favor.

Well, that was short lived. USC special teams. And their QB ain’t half bad. SEC salvaging the weekend after the Alabama loss. VT coach gone after this year?

I need a moving GIF or emoji to express my sentiments.
