To you I’m sure that’s true.
I’ve been holding off on posting this for a couple of days to try to get more info. Unfortunately, details are very hard to come by, but this is big enough that it deserves a post anyway.
Ukraine has struck an air base in Crimea, 225km behind enemy lines. Two huge fireballs appeared over ammo and fuel depots, and the entire area was destroyed and burned.
This is the event that is supposedly sending Russian tourists fleeing from Crimea back to Russia.
Numbers and specifics are very hard to come by. We suspect:
- 10-15 military aircraft were destroyed - the single darkest day for the Russian naval air force since WWII
- 150 casualties (2-to-1 wounded)
- could have been missiles or special forces or both
Lots of disinformation, of course. According to Russia this was an accident caused by a soldier recklessly tossing aside a lit cigarette. (Not a surprise. Remember, they claimed the sinking of the Black Sea flagship, the Moskva, was also an accident in stormy seas. Video later surfaced of it sinking amid a sunny sky and calm waters.)
Either way, this is a huge propaganda victory for Ukraine. It’s a clear sign that Russians aren’t safe even in Crimea. They’ve since hit another road going into the peninsula, continuing their strategy of strangling Russian logistics.
President Zelensky
"This Russian war against Ukraine and against all of free Europe began with Crimea and must end with Crimea – its liberation.”
Moar clown show plz
Car bombs taking out prominent Russians, in Russia
Drones hitting black sea commands ships lol
I saw that. The low Russian morale has been well-known for some time. Apparently the average soldier doesn’t like killing innocent civilians.
Not much has happened lately except for Ukraine continuing to strike deep into Russian-occupied territory. With Ukrainian independence day tomorrow, it is believed Russia will need a big show of force.
The US has directed all American citizens to leave the country immediately.
Let’s hope it’s just caution.
On Monday, after a month of disrupting Russian ground lines of communication, the Ukraine Army that bikki says doesn’t exist started a comprehensive counter-offensive.
They are making strong pushes in the south, retaking some villages amid limited Russian retreats. Reserve units that were in training have shown up with new NATO supplies. All across the front lines, even in the Donbas, the Ukraine defenders are taking a more active approach.
None of this is to say that Kherson will be taken in a few days. Ukraine’s strategy is relying on attrition, degradation of enemy morale and supplies, and slow pressure.
Even Russian telegram channels are admitted to withdrawals. Both sides are claiming large losses. While their numbers can’t be outright believed, there is clearly renewed fighting going on.
1st Iran, now
Russia Is Buying North Korean Artillery, According to U.S. Intelligence https://nyti.ms/3wYYNzm
Yup. US intelligence has been excellent this entire conflict, calling out the Iranian drone deal way before it happened.
Russia needs to regenerate their supplies somehow, and sanctions have hit their industrial complex hard. This is a notable move but not exactly a desperate one. In times of war, the most profit is made by the people selling weapons.
Of course, Bikki is still on their team. His only allegiance is to our enemies
Nobody tell bikki but Ukraine is on a hot streak.
First, they spend a month announcing Kherson as their target. Russian forces reallocated to reinforce the region, and the fighting in the Kherson oblast has been tough, with heavy losses reported on both sides. Yet Ukraine is slowly gaining ground.
Defending Kherson is a tough one for the Russians. It is strategic positionally as a bridgehead across the Dnieper, as a launching point for Mykolaiv and Odesa, and also controls the water supply to Crimea. However, it is one of the worst places on the front for Russia to defend. By reallocating Russian forces to this fight, Ukraine has taken the initiative by making sure the fight happens in an advantageous area for them.
But that’s only half of it.
While the right hand was signaling in Kherson, the other launched a surprise attack near Kharkiv. This lightning offensive gained a lot of ground and liberated 20+ villages. Without enough troops to adequately hold the front line, the Russians are on their heels. Balakliya is encircled. Ukraine advanced past and cut off the road to Kupyansk, which is a transport hub and launching off point for the strategic town of Izyum.
For the record, Ukraine has gained in a week and a half more than Russia has since the July fall of Luhansk. All the speculation of Russian forces exhausting themselves at the end of that offensive was true.
Keep in mind, it’s tough for Russian forces to redeploy from Kherson because the bridges are destroyed and quick-and-dirty pontoon bridges don’t last long with HIMARS around. The Russians walked into a trap hook, line, and sinker, and they have a tough battle ahead.
I can’t predict what will happen over the next month or even next week, but so far the counteroffensive has been a resounding success.
